I have interest in some orders being picked up at Dayton at the MVPA convention in August. If I get a couple people who want to avoid the shipping on their order, I’ll make the trip. I would only be able to be there on Saturday for deliveries. If your interested, let me know, and I’ll load up and go to Dayton.

We are very pleased to announce that Tom Dienst of West Virginia has purchased Vehicles of Victory. I have known Tom for a number of years and he is a smart, personable and honest guy. He has been involved in the MV hobby for many years and has an appreciation for the vehicles and parts that keep them going. There is great satisfaction in knowing some of these hard-to-find and rare parts are going into good hands. We are working out the details now and will post updates here on the site. We will need to close for about a week in the near future to provide time for the transfer of inventory. I will be helping Tom out at our usual spot at the Redball Show in Gilbert, so you can still order and see what is new. I have made many friends through VOV both here and abroad. For those I have not met I hope to be able to in the future. Thanks to all for all your tremendous support. Keep ‘em green and keep ‘em rolling! – Bob

What is Thixotropic grease? A thixotropic grease is one that is a gel when at rest, but any motion or agitation immediately liquefies it. With the lubrication technology available today, we can not only provide far superior oils and greases for our vintage vehicles, but with the products available today we can provide specialty products to address specific needs. Look again at what thixotropic grease does….. at rest it is the consistency of a soft pudding or yogurt. Have a troublesome seal that either is a huge pain to address or just not available? Would “pudding” leak out? Probably not. What a great solution for those “weepy” steering boxes or leaky differential seals. The great part is that it turns to a gear oil consistency soon as you put your gears in motion. Originally known as “corn head grease” this product has expanded outside the ag market and is now the standard gearbox oil for Rhino rotary mowers, Brown Tree Cutter HD Mowers and Snapper transmissions.

Usually rated as a NLGI “0″ grade grease, this grease offers

Excellent extreme pressure and wear properties

Excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance

Outstanding high temperature properties

Available in 5 gallon buckets or standard grease cartridges

This grease will not magically repair a seal. For normal parade duty it can be the best thing since sliced bread, but if I were planning on doing the Alcan Highway convoy, I would take the time to fix the transmission seal. This can also buy you time until winter when you can do major repairs.

As more HMV owners have asked about this and have tried to get it, they have found it can be difficult to locate, especially in suburban areas. Because of this, VOV is now stocking this grease from Royal Manufacturing in both cartridges ($3.50) and 5 gallon buckets ($108). Cartridges are great for steering boxes, but if you want to do your differential and transfer case, the bucket will be easier and cheaper. The grease will pump through a good gear oil bucket pump or manual bucket grease pumps are available used or new on Amazon for about $115.
